cheap thrills for me include getting as close as possible to jets taking off and landing.   ironic, because i also have adult onset-minor-fear-of-flying. getting so close to them is sort of creepy-fun for me. not that it happens that often. it’s the rare that moment when you’re driving to an airport and you look up and suddenly there’s a plane RIGHT above you.  i once went to oyster bay park in oakland which is a essentially a theater for  planes landing.
this photo is from maho beach which apparently is the ultimate plane viewing spot.  so close to the airport that people have been thrown into the water from jet blast.
